Coffee aficionados agree that the French coffee press, also known as a plunger, style of coffee maker produces the smoothest cup of joe maintainin the deep flavors of the coffee bean. The Bodum carafe is made of borosilicate glass. This lightweight, heat-resistant type of glass is found in science labs. The plunger and three-piece filter system is constructed of stainless steel. The stainless steel frame tightly wraps around the French coffee press glass beaker. The plastic bottom protects your table from its heat when in use.

How to Use A French Coffee Press

Start with freshly roasted coffee and grind it just before you will start your coffee press brew. TIP: Always use coarse ground coffee when brewing with a Bodum coffee press.
Add one level scoop (2 tablespoons) of coarse ground coffee per 4 oz. cup of water to the beaker. TIP: Adjust the amount of coffee to taste.
Add hot water (195F – 205F / 90°C - 96°C) and fill to the top of the upper metal band. To reach the perfect temperature, bring the water to a full boil and then allow it to rest for 30 seconds before pouring.
After you added the water, using a plastic or wood utensil to carefully stir the coffee to make sure that all of the grounds are submerged. Some people recommend that you stir for one minute.Freshly roasted coffee will rise up as it starts to brew and release gases. Place the press/lid onto the pot in the up position. Line the safety lid up so that it is in the closed position in line with the pour spout.
Allow the coffee to brew in the water for 4 minutes.
Press down on the plunger.
Turn the safety lid to the pour position. You can now serve & enjoy a your gourmet coffee creation.

TIP: After serving, turn the safety lid back to the closed position to help retain heat.

After enjoying your coffee, simply remove the lid/press assembly and using a rubber spatula, scoop out the used coffee grounds and dispose. Rinse the press out and wash with soap and water or place the entire unit in the dishwasher.

TIP: There are no filters needed. The 3-piece filter assemble is part of the press and unlike a paper filter, allows the coffee to maintain its natural oils and acids which give the coffee balance and flavor. The filter assembly unscrews for easy cleaning when necessary. Before brewing, ensure that the filter is completely screwed into place and secure.
