The land was a gift to Mela's grandfather, a high-ranking general in the Costa Rican army, for his service in protecting the land.

Today, the farm is managed by Mela and her husband Luis Rojas, along with their son and new-born daughter. Mela is passionate about exploring specialty coffee and experimentation, and the farm is known for producing high-quality, specialty coffee that has won numerous awards. Mela and her team have worked hard to perfect their coffee growing techniques and are constantly experimenting with new methods to improve the quality of their coffee.
